Toledo, Ohio holds a special place in my heart because it’s the middle point between Cleveland and Detroit where my fiancé and I would meet up during our long distance dating relationship. While at first we struggled to find fun things to do, we quickly learned that Toledo has a lot to offer. Here’s our top seven recommendations of things to do in Toledo, OH.
Top Seven Things To Do in Toledo, OH
Swim, walk, run or bike at Maumee Bay State Park!
There are multiple paved paths and plenty of outdoor space to relax and play in. Fun fact: This is where Brian and I had our first date and also where we got engaged.
It’s enjoyable to come here during any season, but I would especially recommend to visit in fall. Hop in your car, Clevelanders! Toledo is only 2 hours away.
Take a hike at Wildwood Preserve.
This portion of the Toledo Metroparks is absolutely gorgeous! The area features multiple hiking trails, picnic areas and outdoor activities. The park was previously the estate of the Stranahan family and their stately Manor House still stands offering a festive Christmas tour during the holidays.
See a show or concert at the Stranahan Theater.
My fiancé and I saw Ray Lamontagne play here on our second date and we both remembering having goosebumps! It’s not a huge theater so even the farthest away seats are still enjoyable.
Eat hot dogs at Tony Packos.
This Hungarian restaurant has been serving delicious eats to Toledo residents since the early 1930s. They are most known for having hundreds of signed hot dog buns from celebrities, presidents and other famous people on their walls!
Taste test local beers at Maumee Bay Brewing Co.
This brewery is located in a historic hotel from the 1800s and is full of charm (& good beer). Stop here for a bite to eat and drink!
Visit the Toledo Museum of Art.
I still can’t believe this museum is free. Tour the multiple different rooms filled with interesting art and try to snag a free tour guide…it will help you appreciate the pieces that much more!
Explore the Old West End neighborhood.
Start out by grabbing coffee from Black Kite Coffee and then walk/bike/drive around this neighborhood to see some of the most over the top gorgeous Victorian homes. If you’re a wannabe realtor like me, you will love this!
