As many of you know, I am a big proponent of my hometown, Cleveland, OH. There has been a crazy amount of growth in the last few years and I have loved seeing my city prosper. One of my favorite neighborhoods, Ohio City, recently gained a new business, The Cleveland Candle Company. I have enjoyed these candles for a long time, but more recently, I was able to attend one of their DIY parties and created my own candle, bath bombs and lip balms…and I am an even bigger fan now! Read about my creative experience at The Cleveland Candle Company below.

Reasons Why I Love Cleveland: The Cleveland Candle Company
The Cleveland Candle Company opened in 2014 by a few young entrepreneurs with a passion for scent and candle-making. They started with two store locations in Coventry and Mentor, but recently expanded in May 2018 with their Ohio City location right across the street from the West Side Market. Read more of their story here.
Right when I walked in, I was overwhelmed with the sheer number of candles and scents! From plant to seasonal to food scents, this company has your nose covered. I attended this event with a group of #ClevelandBloggers and our DIY party included making candles, lip balms and bath bombs.
To start, you take a stroll (& sniff) along their candle wall and write down all of the scents that appeal to you. Next, their expert mixologists recommend what smells would blend nicely together. My picks were lemon zest, harvest moon and milk & honey. After blending the fragrance oils, mixing them with the wax, and creating my candle’s name, all I had to do was sit and relax. Did I mention this place is BYOB? How perfect for wedding showers, bachelorette parties and birthday celebrations!
While the candles dried, we moved on to making bath bombs. I loved learning how simple it is to create these luxurious products and it was very fun to be able to pick your own scents.
The same goes for creating the lip balms. I enjoyed tapping into my crafty side while catching up with friends (& getting educated about oils).
I can’t wait to burn my “Caught Between Summer & Fall” candle, indulge in a steamy bath with my Clover & Aloe scented bath bombs and treat my lips to smooth “Minty Fresh” moisture. Thank you to The Cleveland Candle Company for such a fun evening of creativity, lovely smells and fellowship!
